Colossians 1:9-13

Colossians 1:9-13, "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has transferred us into the kingdom of his dear Son:"

Walking With Christ

Walking with Christ

As Christians we must walk in the Light, and not of darkness. We must separate ourselves from anything that isn’t of GOD. This includes music, associates, organizations (fraternities/sororities’), etc. As we walk with CHRIST we must enter into the Battle. The Battle is fighting against SATAN and his army. In order to begin a life with CHRIST, one must REPENT. REPENT means to take on a new mindset, turning from sin and going with God. Jesus Christ is the only way to God, there isn’t any other person or thing you can go through.

The CHURCH is supposed to be a place to edify you and build you up, so that you can go on and proclaim the gospel as Jesus instructed us ( Mark 16: 15-18 KJV “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”)

It’s important to understand the True meaning of this scripture. Jesus is telling the disciples what their priorities are as followers of Christ. As Christians today, we have these very same priorities. We must GO; we have to preach the gospel as the spirit moves through us. But in order for the spirit to move we must make the first STEP. After you have repented you must be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Being baptized renews your mind, and allows you to begin to kill the old man, and prepares you to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

It is often seen through majority of the New Testament that Jesus and the Prophets spoke about the Holy Spirit and gave detailed information about its purpose. After being baptized, you must seek Christ and he will give you the comforter as he promised us. There aren’t any set rules that you must obey to receive it, you must fast and pray and seek the Lord. As you seek Jesus, he will show you things that are preventing you from receiving the Holy Ghost. Once you are saved you will have the signs that were mentioned in the scripture (speaking with new tongues, casting out of devils, the laying hands on the sick, and being able to overcome the traps and infirmities that has tried to come over you). It’s important that we strive to manifest all of these signs; it is what makes us true believers according to what Jesus told his disciples.

Disciples are those who follow Christ, so YES, we must abide by this!! There is no running or standing on the sideline on this walk. We must get into the spiritual warfare and save souls. It’s important to evaluate your surroundings, meaning things that are in your home and your friends. Once you embark on this journey, waves will thrust themselves against you, and they may turn on you! It is a part of the walk. Believing in Christ is shown by OBEDIENCE!!!! When we are obedient in Christ this allows us to bear fruit (save souls). This is our priority on this earth, not becoming a millionaire, or being a pop star.

We must be spiritual but able to live in a natural world. Jesus was able to adapt to various environments and was always able to do his father’s work. Luke 9:23-27, “And he said to them all, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s and of the holy angels. But I tell you of a truth, there is some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. “

We must take up our own crosses and deny ourselves daily. This means to fast and seek the lord continually! This is an everyday thing; you will fall short if you ever take a break. This is a spiritual battle and there aren’t any breaks, or stopping points. We must lose ourselves and become selfless; we must give our lives totally to Christ. He must be in us, for the things that defile us can only come from within in us, Mark 7:15 “there is nothing from without a man, that entering him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.” We must allow Christ to fill us with the Holy Ghost so we may be used by him for his will and not our own. Pray and seek CHRIST, remove yourself from the false prophets’, WE MUST SPREAD THE GOSPEL, and not prosperity, or faith stuff!!
